hela Sverige Are you a highly experienced, knowledgable and motivated Scientist? Do you want to join a diverse and global company? We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Principal Scientist to join the Cellular Biology Team within the Discovery Sciences department.
This position is based at our dynamic Gothenburg site. As part of the Discovery Sciences organisation, you will work in a dynamic scientific environment to push advances in small molecules and new technologies. Your main view is always to provide medicines that improve patient care.
Our Discovery Biology Department is responsible for the generation of novel and impactful reagents and assays to support projects in the drug discovery pipeline from target discovery all the way to clinical candidate. We work globally and engage with various therapeutic areas that cover cardiovascular, renal and metabolic diseases (CVRM), respiratory, as well as Infection, Neuroscience and Auto-immunity (INA).
Main Duties & Responsibilities
You will have a lab-based role with a significant component focused on developing and driving strategic scientific initiatives. Your bench-work focuses on supporting projects in all phases of drug discovery by generating bespoke cellular reagents. This includes application of leading genome engineering techniques, design of experimental strategies and troubleshooting.
Your real passion for investigating scientific questions, combined with strong team working ethics will enable you to contribute significantly to our remit.
In addition, you will be required to identify new areas relevant to the use of cellular models in drug discovery, assess their feasibility and drive their development with the goal of positively impacting projects. Key to this is the application of AI and multi-OMICS to aid in our development of relevant and translatable cellular reagents.
Essential Requirements
* Ph. D in Cellular Biology, Pharmacology, Molecular Biology or a related degree supplemented by at least six years relevant experience, or
* MSc degree in a relevant area supplemented by at least eight years relevant experience
* Substantial expertise in all aspects of cellular genome engineering using a variety of techniques (with absolute requirement of the CRISPR/Cas system), from design through evolution of the tools to generate fit-for-purpose cellular reagents, as well as proven experience in downstream enrichment (FACS) and validation methods (sequencing, PCR and RT-PCR)
* Experience in generating advanced cellular reagents and models of disease with emphasis on co-culture, 3D culture, and microphysiological systems in relevant mammalian cell types including primary and/or stem cells
* Experience in bioinformatics, machine learning or proven working knowledge in the field of artificial intelligence applied to cellular biology
* Documented independent capability in identifying, driving and implementing strategic initiatives and capability development within drug discovery, especially outside immediate area of expertise
* Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to operate effectively in a multi-disciplinary research environment
Desirable Requirements
* Experience with microfluidics
* Clear and firm decision-making skills coupled with tenacity to see decisions through, even in situations of ambiguity
* Track-record in publishing scientific manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at external conferences
