The International School of the Stockholm Region is a publically funded international school which exists primarily to serve the educational needs of the transient and/or international community of Stockholm. The school runs the International Baccalaureate's curricula. The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is offered to students from 5-11 years of age and the Middle Years Programme (MYP) is offered to students from 11-16. The schools language of instruction is English for all subjects. In addition, the IBO Diploma Programme is also offered through IB School South on the same campus. Thus with ISSR and IB School South our students can receive an internationally-recognized education in English from 5 to 19 years of age in one location in the center of Stockholm.
1 plats(er).From June 2014 ISSR will need an After School Care team leader (60%)/ learning assistant (40%) who will work with an English speaking student body and run a dynamic and caring environment both during and after school hours.
After School Care Team Leader:
The ASC team leader should have a background/experience working in an ASC format and hold some sort of physical or creative area, which can contribute to the ASC program. In addition, they should have experience organizing/planning activities to enrich the afterschool hours for young children. This can include arts and crafts, swimming, theater, languages, sewing, hiking and camping, outdoor education, etc. We will be working with the Primary Years Programme curriculum (
www.ibo.org ) so experience with this programme is a requirement.
Learning assistant:
The learning assistant should have experience working in a classroom environment as lead or assistant teacher to students (5-12 years of age). The main focus is on supporting students with English as a second language and students with special needs. Experience working with children and the empathy and patience to help children solve both academic and social obstacles is essential. The learning assistant will work in collaboration with the homeroom teacher to plan and carry out varied instructional levels of the classroom.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the ASC meetings
• Plan and organize a full-time program during school vacations
• Maintain ongoing parent/school communication regarding students' development
• Organize and plan for ASC staff schedules and substitutes
• Plan/document high quality activities in the ASC programme
• Collaborate with the leadership team and the student care team
• Order supplies needed for the programme
• Keep up with Swedish rules and regulations regarding fritids
• Register students in the programme
• Participate in school activities (assemblies, evening events, conferences, etc.)
• Participate and contribute to the planning of lessons with the homeroom teacher(s)
• Supervise children during breaks
• Continued professional development
Qualifications:
A qualified candidate will be:
• A trained after school care staff or equivalent qualification
• At least 3 years of experience working with children in a school setting
• International study or work experience
• PYP training and experience
• Leadership experience
• High level of communication skills (parents, teacher team, students)
• Native English speaker
• Highly competent with IT (Windows platform, Smartboard and other tools for learning).
Löneform: Månadslön.

Krav på arbetslivserfarenhet: Erfarenhet krävs.
