The Arena
AstraZeneca is currently making large investments to increase our research capability in Inhaled Pharmaceuticals, in Mölndal, Sweden. We are investing in new equipment, new technologies and more people. We now aim to increase the number of people working with Product Development for Inhalation by 50%. We therefore seek people with knowledge in various skills relevant for inhaled drug delivery, such as formulation science, analytical chemistry, solid state properties, device development and biopharmaceutical sciences.
AstraZeneca Mölndal is one of AstraZeneca's three core sites for drug research, with about 2.500 employees at site. At Product Development, Sweden, a sub-division of Pharmaceutical Development, we focus on the fields of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases and on Respiratory, Inflammatory and Autoimmune Diseases. Within Product Development Inhalation we have an exciting pipeline, consisting of both new molecules and new devices. The unit currently comprises 80 people, dedicated to research and development for new inhaled drug products and we want you to be a part of growing our expertise in this area.
The Role
Product Development is looking for an innovative and curious expert who will provide scientific input in the area of aerosol physics during the formulation development of orally inhaled drug products.
The role is primarily laboratory based, where a combination of theoretical and technical expertise in aerosol science is a must.
More specifically, you will:
Apply technical knowledge and expertise to achieve project targets to agreed timelines and at appropriate quality level.
Be a discussion partner with deep knowledge in aerosol physics and characterization tools.
Act as a partner in optimizing analytical methods and characterization techniques. You are expected to challenge status quo with a genuine interest and energy.
Support the automation networks within the unit.
Present at relevant meetings and conferences in order to provide external knowledge of AstraZeneca products and projects.
Provide input to discussions with authorities and scrutinization of external collaboration proposals from device companies and academia.
Practice hands-on development and support within your field as well as in-process-controls development.
Have genuine interest to interact with people from other scientific disciplines.
Requirements
We are looking for you with educational background at research level and with deep knowledge in aerosol physics and characterization or related disciplines such as aerosol science.
A fair knowledge of properties relevant for medical devices such as polymer-drug formulation-air flow interactions would be advantageous.
Experiences in the field of light scattering from particles would be advantageous.....
