Scania's trucks and buses offer world leading driver ergonomics. As a part of Scania's department for Styling and Vehicle Ergonomics, the group Physical Vehicle Ergonomics works with improving the driver environment, i.e. ergonomics as well as the general aspects of how well adapted the cab is to the needs of the driver. The group is responsible for identifying, communicating and verifying the physical requirements of the driver environment. The requirements are defined in terms of properties such as comfort, visibility, work load and general practicality.
The group is now looking for a new colleague with expertise in user studies to strengthen our capability in the field of building knowledge about the needs of truck and bus drivers in all the markets where Scania is present.
Your tasks
Working in our team means both a specific responsibility for an area of activity, like in this case user studies, and being more of a general representative for the group in the cross functional product development projects that answer for all of the group's areas of responsibilities. Hence, your work will include:
Specifically:
• Carrying out and/or lead various types of user studies and user tests with truck and bus drivers
• Keeping up to date with and develop methods and tools for user studies/research through following current advancements in research and through networking within and outside of Scania
• Manage and further develop the group's strategy for the acquisition, management and communication of user information within and outside the department
• Manage, develop and execute a plan for the development of competence, methods and tools for the group related to user research
Generally:
• User or expert testing of the properties mentioned above using test rigs, mock-ups and prototype vehicles
• Definition and communication of ergonomics requirements
• Participation in cross functional teams with colleagues from marketing, engineering, styling and drivers
Your profile
• User oriented; has a strong belief that product development starts with the understanding of the users' needs. Actual experience from success stories where this approach has had a crucial role in the success of a product is a plus.
• Experience from communicating customer/user needs to stakeholders in a product development organisation. You should have experience from and find it a natural part of the work to present findings in a compelling way.
• Used to work systematically with user studies in different forms, e.g. focus groups, interviews and observations using different documentation such as filming, forms (digital or paper)
• You should have a drive to not only identify users' needs, but also to actually make a change by working together cross-functionally with developing solutions that correspond to these needs
• You should speak fluent Swedish and fluent English
• You are not adverse to travelling to meet our users and customers in Sweden and abroad
