Sund skogstjänst AB is forest company with a friendly atmosphere. The business idea is to do tree planting in Sweden and to support a social project. In 2016 our ambition is to support a tree planting project in Nepal. 1% of net turnover goes to our project in Nepal.
When: Seasonal work from: 15th April to 15th of October 2016
Location: Hammerdal, Jämtland, 65 km from Östersund. Accommodation in Hammerdal is provided for a reasonable cost.
You will be transported from your accommodation to the planting site with car by your team leader. From there you will carry the plants to the planting area. You use a belt to carry the plants and a planting tube to put the plants in the ground. A team of five people puts down at least 10 000 plants in the ground every day. There will be a caravan close to the planting site for rest and food intake otherwise you spend 9 hours in the forest every day. You will bring food of your own for lunch. In Hammerdal the accommodation has everything you need for cooking, cleaning and sleeping.
Strong mental health and a good physical ability is very important for this job, otherwise it will be a very challenging experience. No knee or back problems are allowed as this job is hard on both of them. Allergies against wasps, grass, mosquitos and other things commonly found in nature are not recommended as it could prove dangerous. Experience of agriculture and/or physical work is preferable. It is required that you understand English or Swedish.
Desired qualities:
Because we want to develop Nepalese forestry with this working exchange it is a plus if you speak Nepalese and English. A University degree in Rural development is highly desired.
