What's in it for you?
Interfaces with our cars are increasingly important during development and understanding of car and driver behaviour. The more sophisticated the collected data and interaction possibilities are, the better products we as a company can develop. If you want to be a key person in this front edge field and to have the possibility to shape the technical solutions; balancing both architectural and detailed functional level questions, this position is for you.
WICE (Wireless Information Collection Environment) is the primary development platform to collect data from the cars and provides an uplink to them. It's currently installed in high volume in company cars and increasingly so also in project cars. As Test Engineer you'll be the quality responsible of the team developing the WICE platform as well as acting within P&Q to enable functionality is aligned with users.
The WICE team is an agile team but not connected to an ART; which means it operates as a small company within the company. This gives the team freedom to make decisions and navigate swiftly in an ever-changing landscape, and with a limited administration to provide Volvo with an outstanding wireless information collection environment.
What you'll do
You will test SW release candidates to ensure all desired functionality works, and to find unexpected behaviour. You will document and feedback the findings to the function owners and developers.
You will also handle data access levels for cars and users. To be efficient you'll therefor engage in the build-up of GDPR methodology.
Do you fit the profile?
You are very experienced within embedded SW testing, development, SPA1 and possibly SPA2 platforms and associated processes and tools. You understand how to network in P&Q to get things done. You have several years of experience of formulation and systematic assessment of functional requirements and enjoy explaining these to others while listening carefully to their input.
You believe that a platform like WICE is a powerful asset to development teams throughout P&Q.
Personal characteristics involve excellent and documented communication skills, a structured mind and -ways of working, and a sincere and relentless drive to improve both products and processes. A team oriented personality and track record are key to success in the role.
Prior to several years in embedded development you have an educational background of Master's degree or equivalent from Software Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Systems Engineering or comparable.
