The group Engine & Transmission Testing is a part of the section Powertrain Systems Testing whose main purpose is to operate and develop the department's test beds within powertrain testing. The group Engine & Transmission Testing is responsible for a number of engine and transmission test cells, but also for a battery lab. The battery lab is now expanding from a small research laboratory scale, to a lab that can support the industrialisation of the future electrified powertrains at Volvo Cars.
As a Test Engineer you will do battery tests on all levels (cell, module and pack) in both stand-alone set-ups and with Controller Area Network (CAN) and Hardware in the Loop (HIL) systems. As we are in an expansion phase, you will be involved in developing the new battery lab while working in our present facilities. Daily work includes writing test programs, evaluate test results and prepare test objects.
Main responsibilities
* Be responsible for the daily operation of the test bed
* Make sure all test equipment used is maintained and calibrated
* Installation of test object in test bed
* Preparing new tests such as new drive cycles, setting up simulation models in test bed computer system
* Plan, execute and analyse tests together with internal customers
* Continuously learning new test methods and test systems
Required qualifications
* B.Sc. in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
* Fluent in English, written and spoken
* Driving license B, valid in Sweden
* Experience from testing or lab work is meritorious
* Experience in software and HIL is meritorious
Personal qualities
* Team player with strong communication skills
* A genuine interest of batteries and working with testing in a lab
* Can work with good patience and accuracy over time
* Ability to work independently
* Eager to learn new things
* Appreciate the combination of both practical and office work
