The International School of the Stockholm Region is a publically funded international school which exists primarily to serve the educational needs of the transient and/or international community of Stockholm.
The school runs the International Baccalaureate's curricula. The Primary Years Program (PYP) is offered to students from 5-11 years of age, the Middle Years Program (MYP) is offered to students from 11-16 and the Diploma Program (DP) is available for students from 16-19 year of age. The school's language of instruction is English for all subjects. At ISSR, students can receive an internationally-recognized education in English from 5 to 19 years of age in one location in the center of Stockholm.
Tjänstebeskrivning:
This fall ISSR is looking for a Special Educational Needs (SEN) teacher preferably with a speciality in mathematics to work in the Middle Years programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP). The SEN teacher works with students who need extra support or require an advanced programme of education in order to complete their learning successfully. A key aspect of working in this position is identifying individual needs and being responsible for creating a safe, stimulating and supportive learning environment. There is an ongoing expectation to work closely with the teachers to facilitate learning.
Responsibilities include:
- Map the SEN needs within the MYP and DP
- Plan for and teach SEN students according to student needs
- Provide support to SEN students in mainstream classrooms and in pull-out sessions
- Monitor and document the progress of SEN students
- Use ICT to support SEN students
- Collaborate with teachers across the school to provide the best possible learning environment and experiences for SEN students
- Provide professional development for teachers in the special educational needs area
- Be an active member of the Student Care Team
- Collaborate with parents on how to support SEN learning
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as social workers, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and educational psychologists
- Participate in school activities (assemblies, evening events, conferences, etc.)
- Continued professional development
Requirements:
- A certified Special Educational Needs Teacher
- Fluent English speaker (academic level in both speaking and writing)
Other qualification may...
- IB experience or training
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong focus on detail
- ICT skills
3 month substitute, parental leave
