Role Overview:
As a Software Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to oversee and execute software builds for vehicle test & production. You will be working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the timely delivery of vehicle production software.
Key Responsibilities:
• Software Build Management: Oversee and execute software build processes for vehicle production, ensuring all software components are integrated, tested, and ready for deployment.
• Collaboration with Teams: Work closely with developers, and system owners to identify requirements and streamline the software build process to ensure smooth flow.
• Version Control & Configuration Management: Maintain version control and configuration management practices for software builds.
• Automation & Optimization: Develop and implement automation tools for building, testing, and deploying software, aiming to improve efficiency and reduce delivery time.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement within the build pipeline, and implement changes to enhance the overall quality and performance of software builds.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain clear documentation for build processes, changes, and troubleshooting procedures. Generate regular reports for management on build status and progress.
• Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and resolve software build issues that may arise during the production process, ensuring quick and effective solutions.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in software engineering with a focus on build processes, version control, and configuration management.
• Familiarity with tools such as Git, Jenkins, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines for automating software builds.
• Experience with embedded software or automotive production systems is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Attention to detail with a passion for quality and process improvement.
Nice to Have:
• Experience with vehicle production systems or working in the automotive industry.
• Knowledge of C/C++, Python, or other relevant programming languages for embedded systems.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools.
This is Us
The group Powertrain System Software is responsible for the combined delivery of the powertrain systems which combines input from approximately 200 engineers working on SW and HW. We are 10 engineers taking this role and we work across all of Scania including development, production, purchasing and aftermarket to coordinate our deliveries. The group also takes on the leading role in development of control systems at suppliers and making sure that these systems are integrated with the complete control system of our trucks and busses.
