Accountabilities:
As a Senior Scientist, you will be actively involved in AstraZeneca's portfolio of drug projects using your compound design, synthesis, data generation, and data interpretation skills. You will have the opportunity to further develop your medicinal chemistry and drug discovery knowledge alongside the experts in our department. Your work will be performed in a highly cross-disciplinary environment, and you will also be part of external collaborations, publish scientific papers, present and represent the department externally.
Essential Skills/Experience:
*
Ph. D. degree in Organic Chemistry/Synthetic Chemistry/Medicinal Chemistry or Master of Science with a few years' industry experience in synthetic/medicinal chemistry.
*
Strong synthetic chemistry knowledge: ability to plan, prioritize and perform work independently, including synthetic route design and problem solving.
*
Scientific curiosity and creativity: ability to identify, develop and apply new technologies and ways of working.
*
Great awareness of recent literature as well as current developments and trends in medicinal chemistry and organic synthesis.
*
Highly self-motivated and capable of analysing complex data and deciding on focused course of action.
*
Excellent teamwork, collaboration, networking, and communication skills.
*
Ability to communicate your work both to senior leaders and in scientific papers and documents.
Desirable Skills/Experience:

Experience of medicinal chemistry and drug discovery in an industrial setting
*
Experience of both small molecules and PROTACs
