The British Embassy in Stockholm is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit 2 Senior Investment Advisers to the Inward Investment Team at the Embassy.
DIT is fundamental in supporting the Governments agenda to grow the UK economy. The role of the Senior Investment Advisor is to support Swedish companies looking to set up or expand current operations in the UK and work with other Embassy departments to advance commercial opportunities.
The selected applicants will join the team as Senior Investment Advisers but focusing on different business sectors:
• Life Sciences, Advanced Engineering, Space, Railways, Automotive, Cleantech.
• Financial & Professional Business Services, Food & Drink, Retail and support for Institutional investments into UK infrastructure.
Both positions will have an element of horizon scanning/business development on behalf of the inward investment team. The successful candidate will also contribute to reaching wider Embassy's objectives.
We are looking for a team player with relevant educational background, good industry knowledge and some years of experience, preferably from one of the sectors listed above. Having established contacts in the industry, a strong client focus, sales and service minded approach and experience from project management is an asset.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Maintain and build pipeline of clients in order to secure investments as per defined targets;
• Close contact with Swedish and UK industry contacts, travels in Sweden and the UK as and when required;
• Key Account Management;
• Planning and running of events in Sweden and the UK to highlight UK as an investment destination;
• Recruit for and run events and missions, arrange speaking engagements/round-table and networking opportunities for high profile UK visitors to Sweden; including planning and documentation necessary; ie brief writing, programme administration, sector analysis, invitation of guests and liaison with Swedish/UK stakeholders;
• Contribute to the results of the wider DIT Investment Team and other DIT Teams in the Nordic- Baltic and European region, including the Embassy Prosperity Team. Support and take active role in events/activities across the Embassy.
Essential qualifications and experience
• University degree, Business/Economics or applicable subject;
• Minimum 2 years of business development experience;
• Proven skills in delivering results under pressure, excellent organizational ability and a proactive results-driven approach to problem solving;
• Be able to take responsibility and use initiative to deliver high quality work;
• Understand and focus on customer needs;
• High social skills and a team player;
• Fluent command of English (oral and written);
• Good command of Swedish;
• Good IT skills

This is a full-time Permanent Contract (40 hours per week).
The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background check and security clearance.
