hela Sverige You will be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring our reliability engineering practices to ensure high quality and reliability of our products.
This includes:
• Introducing reliability engineering methods and tools to the global development teams and coaching the development team members in their use.
• Providing concrete input to HW and system designs to achieve higher reliability at minimum possible cost based on deep electronics and mechanics expertise.
• Conducting or contributing to failure root-cause analysis studies for failures and the design of mitigation and improvement measures in collaboration with our Failure Analysis team.
• Interacting with supply chain management and suppliers to secure reliability of purchased components and subsystems.
• Interacting with the customer support team or even customers directly to resolve customer defect reports.
• Continually challenge conventional thinking and drive accountability for R&D results including foremost product reliability, but also lead time and cost etc.
• Teach continuous improvement thinking and lead Kaizen events within the development community.
• Continuously apply a data driven approach to identify most important improvement activities to drive product performance and ensure timely execution of identified improvement portfolio.

Knowledge and Experience
Master's degree or higher in electronics engineering, engineering physics or related subjects.
10+ years' experience in developing high reliability embedded systems and applying reliability engineering methods.
Track record of developing strategy, translating into actionable plans and driving sustainable change through influence creating breakthrough reliability results.
Experience of being a Change Agent challenging conventional thinking, approach and methodology and driving improvements. Leading teams through influence without authority.
Working knowledge of lean development and six sigma strategies and principles.
Skills and Behaviors
Able to efficiently multi-task initiatives such as trainings, kaizen, follow up activities, reports etc. Understands how to use process and organizational maturity assessments in a business / facility / site to prioritize improvement actions. Effective communicator at various levels of the organization (from business leadership to employees on factory floor). Project Management and strong problem solving skills.

Experience of Continuous Improvement in R&D and formal recognition of merits in Lean Methodologies and/or Six Sigma is advantageous. As you will be working in a global environment, you are proficient in English, written and spoken alike.
ABB Grid Automation Products is seeking a Senior HW Engineer with focus on Reliability. Our products, i.e. Transmission Relays, protect and control transmission of electricity to major metropolitan areas, key industrial infrastructure and power generation sites, including nuclear power plants, all over the world. Needless to say, reliability is at the very heart of our business.
Our aim with this role is to drive sustainable and transformational change in R&D, specifically targeting product reliability. As a Senior HW Engineer you will combine technical expertise with people and organizational skills to deliver data driven improvements.
While highly integrated with R&D team based in our lead manufacturing and R&D facility in Västerås, Sweden, this role is part of the Global Operations function.
