Senior backend developer. You will be at the forefront of shaping and creating an API that has a profound impact on content creators worldwide. Our domain is centered around music licensing, sound effects, and innovative solutions that support creators ranging from individuals to major brands.
Job Summary:
As a Senior Backend Developer at Epidemic Sound.Your primary responsibility will be to lead the technical aspects of projects in our partnership domain, ensuring high performance, scalability, and a seamless integration with our partners' systems. You will take a leading role collaborating with Product Manager and engineers to execute a high-fidelity development roadmap. Engage with commercial teams to integrate market needs into API development, bridging the gap between technical and non-technical aspects. Take ownership of technical problem-solving, ensuring code quality and supporting integration tasks.You will play a key role in addressing our biggest challenge: finding product market fit. Join our dynamic team as we embark on an exciting journey to develop software that not only meets the needs of our users but also sets new standards in the industry.
Responsibilities in bullets:

API Leadership: Take ownership of the development process for both the partnership API and frontend experiences, ensuring it aligns with the overall product and business strategy. Provide technical leadership as a senior developer to a team of 6 engineers, guiding them in the implementation of APIs.

Technical Expertise: Demonstrate expertise in Java/kotlin, with a focus on building scalable and efficient APIs. Make architectural decisions to improve response time, scalability, and overall system performance.

Innovation and Vision: Take initiative in driving innovation, shaping the vision for API and product strategy. Work closely with the product manager to prioritize technical initiatives in alignment with business goals.

Collaboration and Influence: Collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders, fostering a culture of excellence.

Continuous Improvement: Actively contribute to the development and growth of the engineering team.
Requirements:
• Minimum 8 years of experience in software development, with a focus on API design and implementation.
• Expertise in Java/kotlin
• A passion for observability, and monitoring systems you own.
• Proven experience leading technical teams and projects.
• Strong understanding of API documentation, complexity, and system optimization.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Comfort with informal power dynamics and the ability to influence decisions.
