Accountabilities
Customer interface
• Act as first point of contact for telephone queries related to the normal use of scientific technology platforms, products & services. (Technical troubleshooting will typically be referred on to the internal IBM Helpdesk).
• Act as a portal for demands and requests for services and training
• Support customers (drug discovery scientists) with their use of scientific/informatics applications
• Escalate advanced questions and issues to the appropriate experts within the Discovery Information organisation, and work with the experts to learn and prevent future escalations
Promotion:
• Promote optimal utilisation of Discovery Information products and services
• Communicate with the scientific community via telephone, email and face-to-face interactions
Training, Awareness and Utilization:
• Develop training materials and FAQ’s with relevant business examples
• Partner with the business and vendors to deliver training activities
Administration:
• Maintain a coverage schedule with other Science Desk team members
• Monitor service delivery performance and impact and make necessary adjustments or service improvement suggestions to the regional leader
Minimum Requirements:
• Customer service and/or training experience is essential
• Degree in Life Science, or equivalent scientific experience
• A strong understanding of chemistry
• A strong understanding of cheminformatics - the use of computer and informational techniques, applied to a range of problems in the field of chemistry
Desirable requirements:
• 2 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech or technology industries
• Experience with call handling, data entry, and/or software programming
