About the Role
AstraZeneca is seeking a motivated and engaged Research Scientist to join its Compound Management team at the dynamic R&D site in Gothenburg. This role is responsible for the storage and timely supply of compounds to AstraZeneca's drug discovery projects. Utilizing highly automated liquid handling systems, the Research Scientist will ensure the efficient provision of molecules to AstraZeneca scientists and partner organizations.
As part of the Discovery Sciences organization, this position operates within a first-class scientific environment, supporting drug discovery efforts across AstraZeneca's Therapeutic Areas. Key responsibilities include:
•
Supporting drug discovery projects by providing compounds in the requested format, such as assay-ready plates, serially diluted mother plates, formulations, and solids.
•
Designing, performing, and interpreting experiments independently to investigate process improvements and evaluate new technologies.
•
Collaborating closely with internal project teams to understand and meet drug discovery needs.
•
Rapidly addressing customer queries regarding Compound Management orders, software, processes, and capabilities.
•
Leading development projects to drive continuous improvement within the local team and global department.
•
Achieving personal scientific visibility through project contributions, internal presentations, and publications.
About You

Qualifications:
Essential:
•
BSc or MSc in Chemistry, Biotechnology, or Chemical Engineering.
•
Excellent communication skills and strong work ethics.
•
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify and implement process improvements.
•
Proven ability to perform a range of practical and complex laboratory tasks to a high standard.
•
Passion for science, technology, and innovation, with an understanding of the drug discovery process.
Desirable:
•
Previous experience in a compound management role and familiarity with operating integrated automation equipment, such as liquid handlers and scheduling software.
•
Some experience with IT (SQL, Python, or Java coding) is an advantage.
