Surface Chemistry is a business unit of AkzoNobel, operates in 50 countries, employing over 1500 people. Based in Chicago, IL, United States, with regional marketing centers in Bridgewater, NJ, United States, Singapore and Stenungsund, Sweden, we are leading supplier of specialty surfactants and synthetic and bio-polymers additives. Using a combination of Chemical expertise, process technology and application
know-how, we solve problems for a multitude of manufacturers and formulators. We service a wide range of industries including agro, asphalt, cleaning, fabric care, mining, personal care and petroleum.
Responsibilities
We have an immediate opening for an individual who can fulfil the following role in our Analytical department in Stenungsund. The department is a part of our R&D organization in Stenungsund, Sweden and mainly supports AkzoNobel?s Stenungsund activities and has a key function for product development as well as for production. We work with a broad product range under constant development, meaning a wide variety of investigative tasks. In the Analytical laboratory we work with analytical requests in the area of chromatography (GC, LC, GCMS and LCMS), spectroscopy (NMR, FTIR) and wet chemistry. Our department is involved in development projects together with application segments, production and BU research. In close co-operation we also work with our Synthesis and Pilot laboratory.
The main tasks and responsibilities are:
• Responsible for analytical requests mainly within the area of LC/MS
• Coordinate analytical requests involving many techniques
• Participate, as an analytical chemistry expert, in projects and in the daily work at the laboratory
Requirements
We are looking for an individual with a PhD in Analytical Chemistry with 2-3 years of relevant work experience or a M.Sc in Analytical Chemistry with 5-10 years of relevant work experience. You are fluent in English, both written and spoken. Surface Chemistry background/knowledge is an advantage.
To be successful in this position you have a keen interest to understand our customer?s problems, you like to communicate, are open-minded and goal oriented. You enjoy practical laboratory work and to solve technical problems in a creative way. As this is a global organization it is important that you can work independently as well as within a group, you are self going and have a willingness to get things done.
