at the Department of Molecular Biosciences, The Wenner-Gren Institute. Closing date: 12 October 2016.

Stockholm University is a leading European university offering a multicultural environment in one of the world's most dynamic capital cities. With more than 70,000 students and 5,000 staff, the University facilitates individual and societal development by providing top quality education that is tightly linked to its internationally recognized research programs.

Department of Molecular Biosciences, The Wenner-Gren Institute (MBW) unites 30 independent research groups pursuing fundamental questions in molecular cell biology, infection and immunobiology, and integrative biology. The department carries out experimental research primarily investigating the function of genes and cells in tissues and organisms. MBW is located in the Arrhenius Laboratories at Campus Frescati, where it contributes to a dynamic research and educational environment, characterized by intense interactions and intellectual exchange between neighboring basic research departments in biological and chemical sciences.

Main responsibilities
We are looking for a highly motivated and focused individual to join Assistant Professor Qi Dai's research group. In the developing brain, neural stem cell self-renewal and differentiation are tightly controlled by critical conserved transcription factors. Mutations on these factors consequently lead to developmental abnormality, and are often associated with human disease. The successful applicant will conduct experimental assays to elucidate the functions of key transcription factors during neurogenesis in animal models.

Qualification requirements
The applicant must have received a master degree from an accredited college/university in molecular biology, neuro-biology, developmental biology, or genetics. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in experimental biology. Experience beyond the master degree is not required, however applicants must have demonstrated productivity in pursuing research in relevant or related disciplines. Relevant expertise includes molecular cloning, mouse genetics, brain injection and dissection, and confocal microscopy. Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken, are a requisite.

Terms of employment
The position involves full-time employment for tre months. Start date as per agreement.
