The department is currently conducting research to accelerate climate-resilient plant breeding by applying omics on a number of crop species important to the agriculture of Sweden and beyond. The person who will be holding this position will be assisting two researchers at the department by independently using biometrical methods and quantitative genetics for analyzing genetic and field data. The work will be conducted by statistical analysis of genomic and phenomic data, writing scientific articles and in the field on target crops.
Qualifications:
We seek a highly motivated candidate with a Master's degree in applied genetics. Candidates with experience in several of techniques/methods such as genome-wide association analysis (GWAS), genotype by environment (GxE) analysis, transcriptome analysis, GBS derived SNP data analysis, marker development, bioinformatics, hydroponics and field trials as well as experience of teaching in laboratory courses are encouraged to apply. Documented knowledge in R is required. Previous experience of working with cereals and scientific publications within the research area is advantageous. The working language is English and excellent written and spoken communication in English is a requirement. In addition it is of great importance that the candidate has good communication and collaboration skills. Great emphasis will be put on personal suitability and favorable personal qualities are independent and thorough.
