To strengthen our business in Hydro & Industrial Services within Wärtsilä, we are now looking for a person to take on the role as Regional Sales Manager Hydro. The Hydro & Industrial Services has a strong portfolio of products, components and associated services for the hydro sector. Through the acquisition of American Hydro, Wärtsilä is a full service provider for hydro installations, conducting upgrades and rehabilitation of hydro plants.

As a Regional Sales Manager you will be responsible for developing business opportunities and achieving sales targets within Northern Europe for the complete Wärtsilä and American Hydro offering. In this role you shall develop key account management strategies for customers within the respective territory. You will work closely with the Proposal Leader and Sales Support on proposals within your territory to develop winning strategies for projects. This includes development of the opportunity from inception through booking and continued support through project execution.

The role as Regional Sales Manager Hydro requires travel on a frequent basis.
• Manage all aspects of the customer relationships for all customers within the assigned region
• Establish and maintain liaison with associated suppliers, contractors, consultants, EPC firms, etc. that affect the customers and the order intake volume for the assigned region
• Establish and maintain liaison with Northern European hydro utilities and government agencies involved in assigned business areas that affect the regional customers
• Review technical and commercial requirements of customer requests for proposals
• Request and coordinate feedback from company departments as necessary for proposal preparation
• Prepare bids and proposals together with Proposal and Sales Support function
• Perform role of principle customer contact from the bid stage through finalization of the contract award
• Solicit bids from major subcontractors as required in the proposal
• Coordinate bidding partners in the event of joint venture proposals
• Keep abreast of market forces, activity and trends through review of literature and contact with industry personnel

To be successful in this role you have a Bachelor's degree with minimum of five years of related experience or the equivalent as a combination of education and experience with hydroelectric turbines, specifically in the area of up-grade and rehabilitation of existing Francis, Kaplan, Propeller and Pump turbines. A particular experience in building relationships with key Hydro players and/or experience of sales within the industry is seen as an advantage.

A good command of English in both speech and writing is essential but with the focus of the role initially in Scandinavian countries, a good understanding of Swedish, Norwegian and/or Finish is would be beneficial. An understanding Russian could also be an advantage.

A good communicator and strategically aware with a strong business background that is centred on customer needs. You will be expected to work independently using your own initiative to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner as well as part of a dedicated team.
