We are looking for our new R&D Director to our Husqvarna Battery Competence Center (HGBCC) to lead a technology organization focused on battery and charger development for high-performance products like professional construction equipment, power tools and robotic mowers.
The role involves overseeing a team across multiple sites in Sweden and Germany, driving long-term technology strategies, and fostering collaboration both internally and externally.
Leadership and Team Management You will be responsible for leading 5 group managers, HW, SW, T&V. Mechanical & AD with a total of 50 engineers across multiple sites in Sweden and Germany.
Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Overseeing personnel management and capacity planning.
Managing budget responsibilities and resource allocation.
Ensuring compliance with Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards.
Representing RD perspectives in HGBCC's cross-functional leadership team.

Strategic technology development: The role involves building long-term plans for technology and concept development, enhancing modular design and platform definition, and driving HGBCC's global footprint and partnerships for R&D activities.
Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Balancing competing trends and stakeholder expectations to ensure robust technology choices.
Reducing costs in batteries and chargers by leveraging streamlined technical approaches and operational synergies.
Adapting organizational structures and ways of working to support efficiency and scalability.

Collaboration and representation: In this role, you will foster strong cooperation with Husqvarna R&D teams worldwide, represent battery and charger development in key internal forums, lead cross-group network initiatives, and build external partnerships with academia and industry.
Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Representing battery and charger development in internal steering groups, governance forums, and cross-functional networks.
Participating in patent review meetings and contributing to intellectual property strategies.
Strengthening innovation and research capabilities through strategic external partners, with a focus on maintaining competitiveness and operational flexibility.

Location: Huskvarna is the preferred location for this position but other HGBCC location can be considered. In Husqvarna we use an hybrid working model with at least 50% in office.

Who are you?
You have several years of experience in a similar role and a solid background in personnel management. Experience in leading leaders is a strong advantage.
You know how to build trust and foster strong relationships with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders alike. Collaboration is important to you, and you deliver results that drive success for both your team and the organization.
You are structured and systematic and you to think strategically and plan for the long term. You are confident engaging in technical discussions with engineers and experts, and you thrive in roles that involve both internal and external representation and networking.
You have:
A higher university degree with a relevant technical focus-within batteries or another scientific/engineering discipline.
Experience of legal and practical aspects of cooperation with external partners.
Experience working with intellectual property rights.
Strategic planning skills, long-term thinking, and a systematic approach.
The ability to work effectively across different cultures and personalities,
A coaching leadership style that keeps the organization focused on goals.

HGBCC develops new concepts and technologies, performs battery development and industrialization, is responsible for battery cell sourcing, and leads Husqvarna's battery pack manufacturing engineering. You will work with the batteries for Husqvarna's high-performing products.
