I woke up early this morning. Early like in really early. The rain was pouring outside and I have never seen a sky that grey before. With a freshly brewed in one hand and a forgotten umbrella in the other I started my journey to Lundby. What a lovely day I thought. The wind of change is here. This is when it all begins.
The biggest technology shift in decade within public transportation has begun. In a changing world with new customer requirements status quo is not an option. The wind of change is not only showing its best side in Volvo Groups birthplace Gothenburg. The wind of change is everywhere. New solutions and technologies are no longer an option.
Volvo Group wants to stay in the front seat and we are sure that your knowledge and interpersonal skills will be a key component in this journey.
This probably describes you
Imagine yourself looking at a picture. Do you focus on the details or do you prefer to take a holistic view? Or are you one of those who can't choose between these two approaches? Do you rather combine your curiosity, analytical side and your sense of details in finding the best solution in every challenge?
What might seem like an impossible combination for some is the fuel that drives us at Volvo Group Trucks Technology. Nothing is impossible. Well isn't that a cliché, you might think. It surely is. But clichés exist for a reason.
This is what you are going to do
You, our hopefully soon to be colleague, will be one of our buyers taking the lead in driving Prototype Purchasing within Product Builds, Volvo Group Trucks Technology.
You will, as one out of four buyers, be responsible for prototype parts for Heavy Duty Truck/Transport solutions. Your stakeholders are mainly based in Gothenburg, and your suppliers are based in the Nordic region. Your purchasing responsibility focusing on areas such as optimizing the supplier base, securing competitive and quality secured agreements, developing best practice purchasing processes, meeting lead time requirements etc. You will also drive continuous improvement in alignment stakeholders/colleagues within Volvo Group Technology and by that you will influence the products. In other words you will strengthen Volvo Groups competitive advantage by understanding the business needs and the supplier. You are interested and curious in new technology but also in well-established technologies
This is us. You, me and our colleagues
Yesterday I asked my colleagues how they should describe Volvo Group Technology and Prototype Purchasing. All of them had something in common. They all believe high performance comes from having fun and the courage to take action. We all need to work together having the Volvo Core values as a guiding star. Doing the same thing as we did yesterday will not make much of a difference. And this is where you come into the picture. You as we believe in action, collaboration and clear communication. Prototype buyers belong to the team Prototype Purchasing, Procurement & Logistics, a team of 15 team members where we all work together and support each other. We count on you as well to be willing to do that! An important part for all of us is to interact and collaborate with other parts of the Volvo Group and represent Prototype Purchasing in related forums.
Who are you?
You speak and write excellent Swedish & English
You are a strong and flexible team player, eager to challenge and improve
You have a can-do approach: you have a positive mindset, high level of energy, and you are ready to tackle challenges
You demonstrate superior communication skills
You enjoy managing many parallel activities and you have a target oriented approach with the customer in focus
Former experience in Purchasing casted parts/sheet metal (3 years +), technical background and automotive experience are considered as assets.
That's a lot of requirements you might think. Well to be honest I didn't really match everything in the ad either when I started at Volvo Group Trucks Technology. But who can, right? Who can know it all, I mean. At Volvo Group we believe in hire for attitude and train for skills.
If you are eager to learn, love doing business and have the drive to take on new challenges, you will probably love it here. Because that is what we do. We take action and we love problem solving. Nothing is impossible. If we don't dare to enter the storm and take the lead, then who should?
Let's do some business together!
If you believe that success comes from daring to think new, challenging ourselves and helping each other out when doing business. Then you would be a great asset in our team.
We believe in you.
