The Arena
GMD Operations/OPAL Office is a function within Global Medicines Development, GMD in AstraZeneca. The GMD mission is to transform innovative molecules into medicine. GMD works to understand why there is an unmet medical need, to shape the therapy area strategies from early development through to commercialization and to identify medicines that need to be invented, developed and delivered to patients around the world.
The Role
The Project management Analyst will be part of a global pool of project management analysts. This pool will provide standard project management support to all areas of the clinical portfolio; to Clinical Project Teams (CPTs), Departments, Clinical Therapy Areas (TAs) or other project leaders with regard to project planning, resource management and budgeting. The Project Analyst will not necessarily be aligned to a particular CPT or TA and may be expected to support both drug and non-drug projects.
The suitable candidate will apply specialist knowledge within clinical project management and supports a consistent approach to gaining a holistic view across the project, providing an analysis status and changes in resource, timeline and costs, including implications and variance from baseline. This will include integration and analysis of all project data from all relevant systems.
The project management software used within these projects is Planisware. It's highly essential that the suitable candidate has documented experience of this tool.
The successful candidate needs to be fluent in both written and spoken English since this is the corporate.
Major Responsibilities
• Provide technical Project Management support to clinical projects by using the AZ project Planning system named OPAL, which is an implementation of the Planisware PM platform.
• Provision of analytical reports on progress against baseline and established tolerances across resources, costs and timelines on a regular basis.
• Monitoring compliance and quality of the clinical project planning data and influencing the project members to continually improve the quality of the data.
• Ensure that activity durations and resource forecasts are consistent with targets, completion of milestone dates etc.
• Identification, sharing and leveraging of good practice to achieve improvement and providing reports for cross functional reviews of progress.
• Function as an expert for project planning data and support projects on appropriate best practice for scenario planning, resource levelling, scheduling and budget impact.
• Advise on best practice for accessing and interpreting project planning data and ensure this accumulated expertise is maintained and documented within the department and with other project analysts.
Minimum Requirements
• Documented experience of the project management software Planisware is a requirement or a very advanced user of MS Project.
• Solid IT/IS experience
• Data analyzing and reporting
• Proactive communication of delivery and ability to manage expectations
• Service minded with constant customer focus.
• Ability to prioritize
Preferred Background
• Experience of clinical and pharmaceutical drug development. If possible across various phase of development
• Proven project management experience, especially in a cross-functional environment
• Good written and verbal communication skills, collaboration and interpersonal skills
• Proven excellent ability to build and maintain cross functional working relationships
• Attention to detail and passion for quality.
