hela Sverige Skilled and committed employees are a crucial factor in the success of Linköping University. And we need more of them. Our core expertise comes from teachers and researchers, but a successful university requires experienced and motivated employees in many fields. Everyone is important. We need to recruit many new employees thanks to, among all, an expansion in our research activity. We need you here. We look forward to receiving your application!
The Department of Thematic Studies was the first in Sweden to offer an academic setting for thematically organised, interdisciplinary, socially relevant research. We combine strong research with undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and courses, often in collaboration with actors outside the university.

Hereby advertises a position as Professor in Gender Studies
Appointment program and duties
The unit of Gender Studies conducts research, research training, graduate and undergraduate education and collaboration on a foundation in transdisciplinary gender studies, with a strong international anchoring. Our research spans a wide area, theoretically, as well as methodologically and empirically. Presently, it is primarily within three major areas that Gender Studies is expanding and developing as a research environment: Decolonial Feminist Studies; Gender, Nature, Culture, and the Bodies Hub, in which gender, sex and bodies are in focus.
Now we are searching for the person that can build a fourth research area through which Gender Studies can continue to expand and develop. We are asking that you, as part of your application to the position, describe and motivate what this fourth area should be. We are looking for a research leader who wishes to contribute to building and developing the unit of Gender Studies' research environment. To succeed you will need to have both a strong drive in your own research, as well as the will and capacity to collaborate within the Gender Studies unit, within Linköping University at large, and in external networks. In order for the fourth area to grow it is a prerequisite that the holder of the position is skilled in applying for and receiving external research funding.
The work tasks included in the announced professorship will consist of own research, education and supervision of PhD candidates, research leadership, actively taking responsibility for the continued development of the unit of Gender Studies, and collegial participation in intellectual, leadership related and administrative tasks.
The holder of the position shall demonstrate documented scientific skills in the field of gender studies, as a broadly defined field of inquiry. The applicant may have a specialization in gender studies, but also in other disciplines such as history, sociology, political science or pedagogy. The applicant may also have their background in an interdisciplinary research area in social sciences, behavioral sciences and/or humanities.
Documented scientific skills, and publishing at a high international level, within the field of Gender Studies, are requirements for the position. A convincing account, based on demonstrated scientific skills, of the new research area which the applicant proposes to develop at the unit is a requirement for the position. The account shall clearly and explicitly show how the new area is different from, and complements, the three existing areas. Documented skills in attracting external funding, as the main applicant, and leading research groups, are especially meriting. Documented pedagogical skills from education at undergraduate and advanced levels, as well as supervision of PhD students, are requirements for the position. Documented skills in taking responsibility for staff and work processes are especially meriting
