Job description
The Production Engineering Manager - Interlocking and Wayside must project manage all technical elements of new product introduction, supplier transfer, cost reduction, technology transfer and manufacturing maintenance projects utilising a team of Test Engineers and Production Engineers allocated to the project by the Director of Global Production Engineering.
The Production Engineering Manager also has responsibility for the functional management of all Production and Test Engineers based at the BT RCS Stockholm site and to ensure that their workload is aligned to the overall priorities set by the Director of Global Production Engineering. It is the managers responsibility to select, mentor and develop Production and Test Engineers in order to provide an effective and consistent approach to all production engineering activities.
As a production engineering manager you plan and project manage all technical elements of new product introduction, supplier transfer, cost reduction, technology transfer and manufacturing. Maintenance projects in line with the production engineering "core process". Project scope, strategy, budget and timescale must be agreed with the Director of Global Production Engineering. You will ensure all key manufacturing plant and Test equipment owned by Bombardier is maintained effectively. Implement preventative maintenance routines and a replacement policy which ensures high availability and low downtime for the entire product manufacturing lifecycle.
In the role it also includes to perform technical assessment and development during Supplier Selection, Pre-Manufacture and First Article Inspection processes. Ensure the Onboard and Transmission supply base is technically competent to manage the production of safety critical Railway Signalling products. You shall also ensure that the Manufacturing technical processes adopted by the supply base are efficient and to the required industry standards and that cost and quality targets are implemented.
Qualifications
• Educated with an MBA or Engineering Degree plus a minimum of 4 years relevant Industry engineering experience.
• Extensive professional experience in Production Engineering disciplines including in-depth knowledge of electronic, electrical and mechanical production / test processes.
• Experience in leading a specialised technical team with responsibility for ensuring production output and quality is maintained and product design is optimised for manufacture.
• Basic Knowledge of Railway Signalling Technology and Onboard and transmission products. (Basic application and specific Manufacturing Processes).
• Knowledge of technical supplier selection and the use of international industry standards including IPC Electronic assembly requirements.
• Knowledge of Production Test Equipment development and specification, Including hardware and software development process and tools.
• Extensive professional experience in Production Engineering disciplines including in-depth knowledge of electronic, electrical and mechanical production and test processes.
• Business and commercial awareness. Good Leadership and communication skills
Language ability : Fluent in English and Swedish
