Role Summary/Purpose:
The primary responsibility of this role is to provide leadership and strategic direction for the Protein Preparation and Purification product segment, part of the Bio-Research Tools portfolio within Research and Applied Markets (R&AM). The role will report to the Product Leader Bio-Research Tools.

Essential Responsibilities

The Product Leader for Protein Preparation and Purification (~$110M) will take overall accountability for leading their specific product groups in R&AM Product Marketing activities in support of our Product Management teams and the Regional Sales teams.

• Lead a team of Product Managers and Marketing personnel to deliver against specified product areas deliverables.
• Develop a product lifecycle strategy and recommend investment / discontinuation of product ranges. Oversee management all aspects of the product(s) life cycle starting with the detailed planning phase (in development) until the product is terminated, including pricing, marketing and supply chain related recommendations. Maximize the company profit over the product(s) entire life cycle.
• Provide input, leadership and prioritization to R&D on requirements for support, product care and research and development projects.
• Strategic and tactical supply chain management of existing products to market for multiple customers and applications. Ensure appropriate inventory and quality control, provide leadership to quality complaint management and ensure competitiveness of the portfolio through proactively making cost reduction recommendations.
• Own the overall product development process for new product additions to the portfolio.
• Provide regular sales and profitability forecasts. Monitor and maximize the progress of the product portfolio. Support the marketing and sales organization with appropriate actions to ensure maximum return.
• Develop strategic and tactical marketing recommendations to product and segment marketing roles to enable effective marketing plans for the overall portfolio. Actively participate in marketing forums and interactions with sales regions.
• Own collaborative/matrix discussions to ensure product portfolios are managed effectively. Support the cross-functional interface between regional marketing, marketing communications and product marketing.
• Motivate/educate functional teams as to how to operate in support of this portfolio. Organize the design and preparation of training materials to be used in product training. Participate in relevant customer meeting and industry conferences as appropriate.
• Ensure consistency of standards and best practice with other business areas.
• Ensure Sales Channel and Channel Partner Readiness.
• Measure, report and act on results, including: usage, revenues and market share. Track, monitor and report on execution of marketing plans.
• Build close relationships with all key stakeholders including Central Marketing, Sales Regions and R&AM marketing teams. Represent the R&AM P&L and interface with the GEHC LS Communications teams.
• Develop team members and raise overall product leadership competency in the organization.

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Administration or a related field
• 5+ years' experience in product marketing, product development, or a related field, evidenced by increasingly progressive marketing and product management career steps
• Proven ability to work globally and experience in emerging markets
• Leadership skills to lead teams and shape/lead growth vision and product marketing strategy and drive and influence indirect reporting relationships to achieve targets
• Experience of managing and coaching Product Management / Marketing teams
• Excellent oral and written communications skills
• Strong analytical and process skills and influencing skills - ability to motivate individuals and demonstrate organizational influence
• Strong project management skills
• Ability to work effectively within a matrix environment; team oriented - ability to motivate and work well with diverse, global and cross-functional teams
• EU work permit

Desired Characteristics:
• ECLP graduate
• MBA or Master's degree in Marketing, Business Administration or a related field
• 8+ years' experience in product marketing, product development or a related field
• Deep Product Management/Marketing expertise, including: market trends/analysis, NPI process, product roadmap development, product life-cycle management
• Healthcare product/industry/technical acumen
• Innovation - develop new ideas through collaboration and execute on creative ideas
• Proven ability to work globally
• Proven ability to influence and negotiate internally and with customers
• Experience with a multi-channel strategy and selling through distributors
