The Radio networks are built by large amount of software systems. All of them with different requirements and characteristics. Some are standardized orchestration SW on COTS and others are specialized SW on proprietary massive parallel hardware executing radio algorithms. They all work together as the distributed brains of mobile internet. These systems make a plethora of fantastic challenges that shapes the learning playground for each of us working here.
We, at the Baseband Infrastructure (BBI) sector provides the platform to all Ericsson Radio Access Baseband applications 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G. It consists of an operating system kernel, boot, communication and observability services as well as a tools suite (programming model, code editor, debugger, compiler, build system and trace functions) tailored to the Ericsson proprietary hardware EMCA (Ericsson Many Core Architecture).
We are now looking for you who can make sure there is a red line throughout the whole tool suite and to unify user needs with latest research and industry standard into a competitive offering. As the Baseband Tools Suite Architect, you outline the holistic view on the EMCA inner software design loop tools suite and you are the force that makes sure the tools are intuitive to work with, easy to comprehend and powerful.
Main responsibilities:
Your days will be filled with talking to our users and developers, prototyping new concepts and contributing code, testing and evaluating our tools suite offering, searching for and reading research articles, participating in conferences, developing road maps and release plans and many more activities to ensure the development organizations competitiveness in the area. As the EMCA tool suite Architect, you are the main technical leader in the area and have the following authority and responsibilities:
Monitor, surveil and continuously acquire knowledge of latest research in the SW Tools area;
Capture business intelligence and gain deep understanding of latest industry standards and competitor behaviors in the SW Tools area;
Set vision and direction of the EMCA tools suite;
Smartly utilize open source solutions when applicable. This to provide a powerful tools suite with high recognition factor to ease onboarding of new personnel;
Capture the EMCA platform user needs and expectations and to articulate them in the requirements on the tools suite;
Construct the EMCA tools suite road map and set the high-level architecture;
Make sure there is a red line, coherency and recognition factor between, and within, all parts of the Tools Suite;
Make sure all parts of the Tools Suite are intuitive to work with;
Drive and ensure the implementation and realization of the roadmap and architecture with teams located on several sites by breaking down such to solution packages populating the backlog;
Chief editor of the Developer Site making sure necessary documentation is in place and of such character that it is easy to comprehend and relevant for the users;
Collaborate with authorities and technical leaders in adjacent technical areas;
Mentor and coach junior personnel in the tools area to create a great development momentum.
