Content and work responsibilities
The successful candidate will work in the project 'Revisiting Allmänningar & Stråk. Spatial Justice in the 21st Century Urban-Rural Land Regime'.

Abstract of the research project
Densification, privatisation and polarisation in the post-industrial urban-rural landscape, risks leading to unsustainable, unequal and unjust access to and distribution of valued public spaces in support of recreation, health, democratic influence and freedom of movement. In contrast to this development, the aim of the project is to investigate spatial justice by analysing usage and planning of allmänningar [commons] and stråk [pathways], i.e. public spaces that connect urban and rural environments and socio-economically and ethnically segregated neighbourhoods.

The project investigates commons and pathways in Malmö, Lund and Staffanstorp in three inter-related work packages.

• Historical Traces. Comprises analysis of historical definitions and a regional mapping showing significant commons and pathways still in use.
• Comprises analysis of regulations, rules and economic incentives showing the relation between planning of commons and pathways and socio-economic and ethnic segregation.
• Comprises ethnographic work and critical mapping on paper and in apps; workshops; interventions and walk-alongs showing use and access of different user-groups to nine commons and pathways.

For more information see presentation on the IUR homepage.

The successful candidate will execute the following tasks:

Main tasks:

• Familiarise him/herself with the project and the research work carried out so far.

• Identify maps of relevance to the research in map archives. Co-create, analyse and compile maps developed throughout the research (by planners, artists and residents, and, from walks and go-alongs).
