www.slu.seWe are looking for a postdoctoral researcher in quantitative genetics. The focus will be to develop methodology that uses quantitative and molecular information for mating and selection strategies (i.e. genomic evaluation), and to evaluate and optimize long term forest tree breeding programs considering genetic gain and diversity. Methodology considers both statistical methods for real data and simulation studies. The research ultimately aims for developing sustainable management of a natural resource. Research will be carried out in co-operation with Skogforsk. We also expect that the applicant will spend part of the postdoc-period at a research facility outside UPSC.
Umeå Plant Science Centre (UPSC) is a centre of experimental plant biology in Umeå. It was formed in 1999 by the Department of Forest Genetics and Plant Physiology, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, and the Department of Plant Physiology, Umeå University (www.upsc.se). There are about 180 persons from 32 different countries working at UPSC.
Qualifications: PhD degree in Biology, not older than three years at time of application, with emphasis on plant breeding, quantitative genetics, population genetics, evolution or corresponding topics. Experience in tree genetics and breeding is desirable. Documented experience in computational analysis is highly valued. The applicant should have good communication skills and proven skills in both oral and written scientific English.
The position is full-time and will be granted for a period of two years, starting as soon as possible.
