The Department of Languages and The Department of Swedish are both part of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, one of five faculties at Linnaeus University. The departments work together in a linguistic environment which includes students at all levels and demonstrates successful research.

Context of position
Linnaeus University is now advertising a postdoctoral position in order to broaden and strengthen the research environment Educational Linguistics at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.

Educational Linguistics at Linnaeus University is an emergent cross-disciplinary research environment which investigates language learning and teaching, and the role of language in learning and teaching. The research environment principally explores the areas language didactics, language acquisition, language learning, literacy, and language use in educational contexts, but applications concerning adjacent fields are also welcome.  Educational linguistics concerns the disciplines English, French, German, Spanish, Swedish and Swedish as a Second Language. The researchers within these languages are actively involved in teacher training and other educational programs at the faculty. Moreover, there is extensive cooperation with the local and regional community.

Responsibilities
The applicant is expected to contribute to the development of our research environment Educational Linguistics by conducting research, writing joint papers and applications together with the other researchers in the environment, participating in seminars, and collaborating with other scholars and graduate students in the field.

The applicant is expected to spend the main part of their working hours at the department. 20% of the time is dedicated to teaching and administration.

Qualification requirements
Qualified for appointment is the one who holds a PhD, or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD, and who have completed their degree no more than three years before the application deadline.

Applicants must not have previously been employed as a postdoctoral fellow for more than a year in the same or related subject area at Linnaeus University.

Applicants should have a good command of English and an ability to work in a multi-lingual environment. Applicants who do not speak Swedish are expected to acquire a working knowledge of the language.

Assessment criteria
Experience from developing research projects and from cooperation in interdisciplinary networks are an advantage, as well as international experience. Documented skills in cooperation and teamwork will be valued in the selection process. An additional qualification is a Master of Arts in Education and university-level teaching experience.

Primary emphasis is placed on the quality of the applicant's publications, and on the proposed research project and its ability to connect to and strengthen the existing research environment.

In its overall assessment of skills gives particular importance to an assessment of the applicant's potential for a successful career as a teacher and researcher
