hela Sverige Nanologica is a materials development company based in Sweden that specializes in developing innovative nanoporous silica materials for drug delivery applications in pharmaceutical products. Nanologica's porous silica materials enhance solubility and offer controlled release properties for therapeutic formulations.
Nanologica is looking to recruit an experienced researcher for an 8-month project starting September 1, 2015, under the Marie Curie Initial Training Network VESSEL.
Vessel, short for Vascular Endothelial interactionS and SpEciaLization, focuses on morphogenesis of blood and lymphatic vessels and their role in tissue homeostasis (project no. 317250). The Vessel project is a highly interdisciplinary project combining expertise of 9 academic partners and 3 industrial partners (SMEs) working together to study the mechanisms of growth, development and function of vascular biology using state-of-the art imaging techniques. The project has a clinical focus with aims to improve understanding of pathological conditions and developing novel drug delivery systems.
The experienced researcher will work at Nanologica on the project Controlled regulation of vascular networks using functionalized silica nanoparticles. The work will focus on the use of nanoporous silica particles for controlled delivery of growth factors for regulation of angiogenesis (growth of blood vessels) and influence biological properties of vessels. The project will look at specific factors that either induce or inhibit growth of blood vessels to combat disease, notably cancer. The work will involve synthesis of nanoparticles and loading of growth factors and other biomolecules and study of the release properties and influence of vascular growth.
Candidates entitled to apply for this position hold a PhD or have between 4 and 5 years of equivalent research experience at the time of recruitment, and cannot have spent more than 12 months in Sweden over the last 3 years. The successful candidate preferably has education in vascular biology and/or has strong experience from one or more of the related research areas:
• Applied chemistry
• Pharmaceutical technology
• Materials engineering
• Nanotechnology
The researcher will perform the major part of his/her research at Nanologica, but will also conduct secondments at the laboratories of some of the other partners in Vessel during the 8 months. Furthermore, there will be workshops and summer schools organized in the project. The ITN program will offer the researcher a good experience in multidisciplinary research with a focus on promoting their career opportunity through a broad European network.
Apply by sending CV (including list of publications), letter of motivation and certificates of qualification electronically (as PDFs) to
moa@nanologica.com no later than May 31, 2015. Reference number Nlab-2015-Vessel to be included in the email subject.
