GTO Quality & Engineering is a global function that develops product and process solutions, leading to operational excellence. More specific, following areas are our key focus:
• Develop long-term plans and strategies for Quality & Environment to deliver on Volvo/ GTO commitments
• Lead the development of global strategies and plans for manufacturing processes
• Establish clear product requirements and be the interface to Group Trucks Trucks Technologies. Co-develop the product and process solutions
• Develop and implement global way of working within Quality and Engineering

We are now looking for a Manufacturing Technology Specialist for Embedded Software & Electrical tool related Hardware (MTS HW).In this role you will be reporting to the Director SW&EE Technology in GTO Q&E.
As MTS HW you will support the Manufacturing Technology Managers (MTM) responsible for the process to develop, deliver, harmonize and improve the ESW process for GTO.
As MTS HW you will be the GTO specialist concerning development and maintenance of hardware and equipment related to tools and systems (i.e. PROSIT+, ETT, DYNO, Wheel Alignment) used in the Embedded Software Process for Produce and Distribute Products (PRD).
You will be responsible for maintaining and improve the development process of prototype equipment from first request through the development phase to delivery and final verification approval.
Your main stake holders and communication interfaces will be the GTO production sites, external HW suppliers, Volvo IT Embedded Production Tools & Systems (EPTS) providing the tools and system used in the ESW process, Software & Electrical Technical Preparation as well as Product and Process Project Managers.
The communication to identified stakeholders will be done through regular Network meetings hosted be the MTS HW role.
You will have to develop and maintain a good relation to current suppliers as well as new suppliers contracted by both GTO and Volvo IT.
One of the main tasks for this role is to develop and define best practice setup of PROSIT+ and ETT stations with focus on the related hardware and equipment used by these tools. Standardization of these stations is a vital part of the ESW Master Process.
This role will be responsible for development and communication of requirements and strategies concerning hardware and equipment in early phases of both product and process projects. As MTS HW you will also be responsible for proposing and lead Technology development initiatives supporting the ESW Manufacturing Technology Roadmap.

Main Activities and Responsibilities
• To develop and share in-depth knowledge and experience for specific part(s) of a production process (the specialist area), including technology, methods and equipment
• To secure global alignment of production technology, methods and equipment within the specialist area
• To support the Manufacturing Technology Manager (MTM) with process-specific knowledge, requirements, cost information for business cases etc.
• To drive the development and documentation of new technology, methods and equipment in the specialist area, including lead/coordination of Advanced Engineering projects
• To provide knowledge and expertise for production process projects, (e.g. when changing a production process in a plant connected to a new investment in equipment, product industrialization etc.)
• To drive the implementation of new technology, methods and equipment in the first plant and then supporting following local industrialization projects
• To support key industrial projects within the specialist area
• Benchmark and provide best practice mapping internally and externally within the technology area
• Provide input to technology roadmap based on identified business potentials
• Provide technical solutions according to technology roadmap
Experience and Competence
• Engineering University degree or equivalent
• Very good understanding of the truck business
• Proven leadership and networking experience in a multi-cultural environment
• Communication skills
• Manufacturing experience
• Project Management experience
• Knowledge of DVP and PRD processes and Ways of Working
• Experience in VPS tools and practice
• As all documentation is in English, proficiency in the English language is required.
