Pharmaceutical Development, which employs approximately 500 people at AZ Gothenburg, designs and delivers the active drug product (including formulations, devices and packaging) required to support new medicines. Likewise, we design and deliver products to be used in toxicology studies or clinical trials, and we develop technology to ensure that drug products can be scaled up for manufacturing on a commercial scale.
The role
• To lead a multi skilled team with deliveries encompassing all aspects within the Packaging & Device Engineering Unit with an emphasis on device validation testing.
• Manages a team of approximately 3-8 engineers who are jointly responsible for developing inhalation devices or packaging solutions throughout the drug project life cycle.
• Ensures the delivery of the project portfolio within their area of responsibility.
• Sets clear direction and objectives, aligned with strategies and priorities of the wider organization.
• Motivate and encourage staff.
• Mentors direct reports for enhanced performance and team and individual development on an ongoing basis.
• Assigning and refreshing individual objectives including interim and annual performance reviews.
• Manage resources to deliver projects in time and with the expected quality.
• May represent Packaging & Device Engineering on the Pharmaceutical Project Teams or other R&D teams
• Leads the local implementation of the Inhalation strategy.
• Indentify gaps and acts to increase the unit?s capability within these areas.
• Leads the implementation of new practices that enable the group and wider organisation to achieve flexibility efficiency and delivery.
• Influences and shapes the image of the team and unit.
• Ensures delivery of SHE and cGMP compliance, ensuring that all work is carried out with regard to AstraZeneca and external regulatory policies and standards.
Minimum experience
• BS Engineering (mechanical, electrical, biomedical preffered) with 10 or more years of industrial experience
• MS Engineering with at least 5 years of industrial experience
• Knowledge of current GMP regulations, especially as pertaining to the development, verification and validation of combination devices
Preferred experience/requirements
• At least ten years working with inhalation devices, including Dry Powder and Metered Dose Inhalers.
