In 2020, Oxfam - together with partners - published the work on carbon inequality, showing that the richest 10% of the global population are not only responsible for 46% of emissions but will use what is left of the carbon budget before 2030. The data was taken up by the UN for its 2020 UN Emissions Gap report and was covered in more than 2000 articles, was amplified in social media by Greta Thunberg, Bill McKibben, Patricia Espinosa, Ban Ki Moon and António Guterres.
