The Department of Biology and Environmental Science is part of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. The research activities within this multidisciplinary department include the areas of aquatic ecology, cell and organism biology, evolutionary biology, microbiology, environmental science and environmental engineering as well as zoonotic ecology. The Marine Phytoplankton Ecology and Applications group seeks a scientific laboratory technician with a background in marine ecology.

The position involves performing water chemistry and biochemical analyses on plankton and water material.Work duties also include fieldwork at the Linnaeus University large-scale algal production systems in collaboration with the industry, and writing technical reports. The position involves working on several projects at the same time, working with and providing support for a number of people including trainees and students.

Qualification requirements
The applicant should have at least a University Master degree in Biology (300 ECTS) with focus on aquatic/marine ecology. The applicant should have experience in specific and practical techniques (analyses of lipids, proteins, carbohydrates in marine samples). Excellent record-keeping skills, along with skills in statistics and computing, teamwork and attention to details are essential aswell as Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Swedish.

Other assesment grounds
Documented experience of on-the-job training is advantageous.

Terms of employment
The position is temporary. Full time for 12 months with possibilities of extension.
