Dfind Science & Engineering are looking for a junior scientific expert for a temporary assignment. This assignment will take place at European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) in their office in Solna. The assignment will start in June and continue until the end of the year, with the possibility for an extension up to a total length of 12 months. As a Junior scientific expert your main responsibilities will include to:
• Contribute to the coordination of applied public health preparedness projects being organised by ECDC.
• Assist ECDC senior staff in the drafting of a technical report on Critical Incident Reviews (based upon a completed literature review).
• Ensure that existing outsourced ECDC projects, such as on risk ranking of infectious disease, continue according to the project management schedule, through organising regular project meetings, and liaising internally with ECDC experts.
• Assist, on an ad hoc basis, to CPS contribution to requests in the field of public health preparedness from European Commission, WHO, and EU Member States.
• Assist in the finalization of ECDC outputs related to migrant health, with the input of senior ECDC experts and project contractors.
• Attend, periodically, daily ECDC Round Table meeting and distribute notes to the Country Preparedness Support Section.
• Liaise with ECDC Disease Programmes, notably programme on vector-borne diseases, to assist in preparedness activities related to this Programme.

Qualifications and skills:
We are looking for candidates with a:
• Strong scientific or social scientific background (university degree in biology, medicine, veterinary medicine, social sciences, epidemiology, or other related fields).
• Experience working in EU or international organization focused on public health.
• Knowledge of the field of public health preparedness in the EU, including Decision 1082.
• Proven ability to produce scientific papers and technical reports as an author or co-author.
• Expertise in emerging infectious diseases and their drivers and determinants.
• Ability to work in multi-cultural environment.
• Experience in epidemic intelligence, disease surveillance or early warning, considered an advantage.
The ideal candidate is an ambitious person, with a high level of responsibility and the ability to take own initiative. You have a good sense of accuracy and have great attention to detail. We expect you to be a strong team player with excellent organizational and communication skills.
