In this role, you contribute to branding DIS Stockholm by creating engaging content for social media, blogs, newsletters, and other marketing campaigns. Additionally, you assist the Housing and Student Life Department by joining the Hub Team, aiding students in making the most of their study abroad experience.
The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in storytelling and experience creating both short-form and long-form content. This position requires that you are collaborative, flexible, an excellent communicator, and comfortable in the role of a photographer. There is a quick turnaround time for capturing and posting content on social media, and you are responsible for keeping our platforms alive in real time.
Responsibilities
Content Creation
• Develop stories about DIS Stockholm by organizing interviews, features, photoshoots, and social media takeovers with subjects
• Write short-form and long-form content, for example on the DIS Blog, social media, disabroad.org, and student newsletters
• Create engaging visual content for Instagram and TikTok that resonates with prospective and current students
• Generate timely stories, posts, and reels for @disstockholm Instagram
• Build up Stockholm content on TikTok
• Network with students at the Hub and elsewhere to find student stories and voices, and pitch to Organic Content Team
DIS Blog
• Pitch and contribute ideas for the DIS Blog
• Write long-form content for the blog, working through edit rounds with Content Writer
• Assist Content Writer with editing student-driven content
• Finalize, build, and publish content
• Sweep blog stories to ensure links are updated, tags/categories are updated, and if there's old information in the content
• Monitor blog performance, tracking analytics to inform strategy
Social Media Distribution
• Collaborate with the Social Media & Content Assistant based in Copenhagen on the content calendar, meeting regularly to plan content across platforms
• Schedule and publish content on @disstockholm Instagram via Later
• Engage with our audiences on @disstockholm Instagram
• Train DIS Stockholm students on Instagram takeovers, monitor stories, and offer feedback
• Stay up-to-date on social media trends and emerging platforms
• Backup: Post on social media and schedule content via Later/Meta, following the Content Calendar
Housing and Student Life
• Take shifts at the Student Hub and help students with practical questions
• Make connections with students to inspire storytelling
• Organize a few Student Hub events every semester together with other staff
• Work with the Host Team to provide support for events for Homestay students
• Additional Housing and Student Life support, such as attending information nights for Homestay hosts, assisting during the housing matching process, and Arrival Day and Arrival Workshop support
Student Media Team
• Be an onsite face for the DIS Stockholm Student Media Team
• Support staff in Copenhagen in training, development, and mentorship of students
• Train and mentor students involved in social media content creation
• Supervise DIS Stockholm Student Bloggers: Recruit, train, interview, and mentor
• Do additional recruitment on-site as needed
• Align with Content Writer on larger Student Blogger strategy
• Lead on event planning and general communication for Stockholm Student Media Team
• Build community with students through socials and activities
• Take headshots of Student Media Team
Website
• Assist with academic web updates for DIS Stockholm
• Assist with website updates to resource pages
• Update the Meet the Student Blogger webpages across Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Summer
Media Planning and Coverage
• Hold overview of media coverage for events, hands-on activities, Field Studies, etc. at DIS Stockholm
• Act as a representative of MarCom, encouraging staff and faculty keep us informed
• Facilitate connections with DIS Stockholm Academics Team - connect with faculty about courses and Field Studies to document
• Fulfill DIS image and video needs by taking photos at DIS events, Study Tours, classroom/course lectures, and for planned photoshoots
• Take new staff headshots
Student Communications
• Contribute ideas and content for student newsletters (what's on in Stockholm, upcoming DIS, and assisting with content writing / editing) and how this intersects with social media
Additional Responsibilities
• Act as an ambassador for MarCom in Stockholm
• Gain student feedback and focus groups regarding content and storytelling
• Attend and host after-hour and occasional weekend events for DIS
• Co-lead Study Tours and travel to DIS Copenhagen as relevant
Who are you?
• DIS alum who has completed a Bachelor's degree or higher
• Comfortable shooting with DSLRs, including photography and videography
• Strong writing skills paired with a visual eye
• Proactive self-starter who can work independently
• Clear and confident communicator
• You will be reporting to the Marketing and Communications Team based in Copenhagen, and the Housing and Student Life Team in Stockholm. Therefore, you need to be independent in doing your tasks, while also being an effective team player who communicates clearly
• Highly organized with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively
• Collaborative and comfortable working in a team
• Outgoing and friendly, ready to make connections with students to fuel content creation
• Confident in event planning, administrative support, and leading social media trainings for students
• Flexible with working hours to account for after-hour events and spontaneous projects
The following skills are beneficial, but not required:
• Photo and video editing skills
• Graphic design skills (Adobe Creative Suite)
• Strong understanding of social media platforms with an interest in trends and tools
• Understand the nuances of content distribution on different digital platforms and how to tailor content accordingly
