The HVDC System Design department is responsible for electrical design of HVDC plants. Rating studies, specification of high voltage equipment, definition of concepts for control and protection design as well as system studies are part of our scope of work.
As Simulation Model Developer your task will be to develop and maintain models for multiple simulation tools used for power system studies including verification and evaluation studies, participate in process development and provide internal as well as external engineering support. You are expected to have problem-solving abilities and solid oral as well as written communication skills since you will interact frequently with engineering and marketing departments as with customers. As a person you need to be a team player and work in an analytical and structured manner. You take responsibility for your work and deliver on time.
We are looking for Masters in the field of Electric Power Engineering or Engineering Physics with interest in programming. It will be considered highly beneficial if you are familiar with our commonly used programming languages C++, Fortran, Visual Basic and Python. Additionally, knowledge and previous experience in power system control, analysis and simulation tools such as PSS®E, PowerFactory, PSCAD, EMTP-RV are meriting.
Since we work in an international environment you need to master spoken and written English.
You will be part of ABB HVDC within the Power Grids Division in Ludvika. HVDC technology has been on the market for the past 60 years and is used to transmit power through long distances at minimal loss, using overhead lines, land and sea cable systems.
