As the Head of R&D Operations you will be part of Hitachi Energy, Grid Automation Products in Västerås. We are responsible for development of protection and control products for power generation, transmission, and sub-transmission network applications. We are offering a complete portfolio of world-class products for Digital substation solutions.
The main objective of R&D Operations is to ensure that global operations and project execution activities are executed in accordance with company procedures, health, safety & environment requirements, cost drivers, targets, and schedule commitments.

Your responsibilities
You will be responsible to grant that the proper Project Management knowledge and relevant certification level is achieved and maintained across all product lines, by establishing appropriate training programs for the PMO community
Create and forecast program(s) costs/timelines. Identify and monitor overall program(s) costs, timing, and deliverables to ensure key milestones are achieved. Obtain change approvals for projects and programs
Analyze portfolio progress to ensure projects remain within scope, on schedule, and within budget; where necessary adapt or recommend solution-oriented strategies to the management team
Assure transparency around change requests, unforeseen results/events and identified risks and ensure that they are properly managed and communicated. Act as an escalation point for program/project managers and secure that all opportunities are captured and acted upon
Oversee planning, budgeting and management of projects and monitor for compliance with policies and standards. Measure and analyze deliveries and performance across projects and timeline and drive continuous improvement in project deliveries and team performance
Work cross-functionally with colleagues in all product lines and functions to ensure sufficient cross-functional resource allocation to projects based on proactive alignment and strategic focus
Facilitate meetings, including building agendas, managing diverse stakeholders, and ensuring alignment and follow-through on actions

Your background
Master's degree in computer science, mechanical, electronic engineering or equivalent, along with several years of experience from managing product development projects
A few years of experience in program/projects portfolio management with a successful track record in full life cycle implementation projects and proven ability to execute to time and budget
Proven expert-level knowledge and experience in project management, change management and business analysis functions and associated methodologies, techniques, processes, and approaches. You are well versed in agile development methodologies as well as classical stage gate models
It is preferred if you have Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
Experience from the Electrical/Utility sector is beneficial
As a person, you are flexible, well organized and driven problem solver. You are solutions-oriented and willing to take initiative, deliver on time and according to expectations
Ability to analyze complex challenges, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
You are used to teamwork in international distributed teams with excellent interpersonal skills
Proficiency in English (written, spoken) is mandatory. Proficiency in German or Swedish is meriting
