The responsibility for the position as Global Technical Manager aims at supporting the business growth within the field of both global product/technical support and RTD. In the role the focus on developing new products and solutions/concepts is crucial in order to support and maintain a competitive offering. The position also includes improving existing product offering, maintaining the global product standard and acting as commercial and technical sales support towards defined market areas and direct customers.
The role also includes to search for and be updated on new materials and technologies that can have an impact on new products and solutions, interacting with other Product Lines and Supply Chain organization within Metso and with external suppliers, other companies and networks.
The job also includes general engineering tasks, IPR and PDM support as well as supporting the Global Product Manager with commercial activities in focus regions.
Job Responsibilities:
* Act as a resource within R&D and engineering projects
* Technical and commercial sales support towards, Market Areas & Supply chain organizations, incl. follow up on commercial and technical activities.
* Process ownership of Engineering Change Process
* IPR/PDM support
* Contribute with market intelligence by being active in the daily work/networking (external/internal)
* Participate and supervision during products and R&D installations
* Arrange technical and commercial offers
Job Duties:
* Convert own ideas as well as ideas from others, into technical concepts and commercial offers.
* Verify that Metso MIP and PG rules and guidelines are followed in Engineering projects
* Monitor and follow up progress of engineering activities, projects and other tasks.
* Report status of engineering projects to VP CS, Product Manager and upper R&D management.
* Participate as resource in R&D projects, from idea all the way to product launch
* Manage and participate in Engineering projects, such as OEM solutions, LCS and major proposals
* Develop new technology, such as new product platforms and material combinations.
* Develop new products and variants within existing product platforms / families.
* Identify and collect information, knowledge and technical solutions that could be applied to existing or future offering.
* Participate in Product management activities.
* Verify ideas and concepts, through CAD, FEA, lab tests and field tests.
* Verify that new products can be manufactured in serial production.
* Maintain the global standard range documentation.
* Identify new patent possibilities and manage patent portfolio and assist with technical support in IPR matters.
* Provide PDM instructions how to code items in ERP system.
* Travel, both domestic and international, when required.
* Investigate, collect and maintain competition information related to Conveyor Accessories
* Act as PL technical expertise in claims
* Work across silos within PL, with other PL/BU/BL, market regions, and other areas with an interest of Conveyor Accessories.
* Train others.
Qualifications and experience
* Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical/Mining/Civil Engineering or similar
* Experience of any CAD program is needed. Preferably Inventor
* 3 years relevant work experience within the field of R&D
* 3 years relevant work experience from a global company
* Work experience of polymer materials is a plus
* Used to work and manage projects

You have the ability to develop and design new products and solutions. Technical and commercial understanding of Conveyor Solutions is a plus.
You have the ability to act individually, supervise others and show the way forward. You have the ability to develop and maintain strong trustworthy relationships and to build networks in an international working environment. You are self-directed, creative and work well in teams.
You communicate fluently in English and Swedish, both verbal and written. You have a driving license and ability to travel, both domestic and international.
