What is in it for you?
Are you a skilled leader who loves business and wants to explore unchartered grounds? Battery Raw Material Procurement is now looking for a Global Category Manager (GCM). The team's responsibility covers materials such as Lithium, Cobalt, Nickel, etc. for our BEVs, and all material mines/traders are of course required to fulfil all our sustainability requirements in our race to become climate neutral by 2040.
You will be part of the Global Energy Procurement management team and report directly to the Head of Global Energy Systems.
What you'll do
As GCM (Global Category Manager) you will lead the global Battery Raw Materials category team operations.
The team consists of 6-8 procurement professionals in Europe, China, and the US working as buyers, SQMs, Category SQMs, and Global lead buyers. The category will have significant turnover with a high dependency on Raw Material availability.
As GCM for this category, you should also
• Enjoy taking your own decisions and having the freedom to decide on the strategy of your own category.
• Be confident in presenting to executive audiences.
• Have negotiation experience with global suppliers with a proven track record of success.
• Have demonstrated expertise in leading a global team of professionals. The team is highly diversified and consists of very motivated people that are located in all regions.
• Enjoy strategic challenges that can be solved with teamwork within procurement and cross-functionally. You believe that your strength is in the team!
• Enjoy having a lot of internal and external interactions, acting as an ambassador for procurement internally and for Volvo Cars externally.
Do you fit the profile?
We believe that you have a genuine interest in leading people, as well as strong business acumen, drive for results, and ambition with great negotiation skills.
You have good communication skills in English and broad experience in purchasing.
You also have
• University degree or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a relevant Purchasing role
• Experience in sourcing Raw Materials is a plus
• Worked with supplier management and contractual topics
• Used to lead a global team
