hela Sverige Volvo is one of the leading brands when it comes to drivability and energy saving software functions. With the first generation of electric driveline with I-Shift transmission and the I-See system, drivers all over the world has started experiencing the electrical revolution. Now we are working on the next generations of electric drivelines that will create an even better customer experience.
Sounds interesting? Then keep on reading!
The purpose of this thesis work is to evaluate and conclude which possibilities that coming electric
axles might have, specifically if more than one electrical axle is used in a truck. Each electric axle
has a transmission with multiple gear ratios and may have different electric machine configurations
with one or more motors. This thesis work will focus on the development of an operation strategy
for both the gear selection and the electric machines of each axle. The strategy must utilize and
select a gear for each axle as well as operate the electric machines in an optimal way given different
motor configurations and a wide range of operating conditions. The solution must be versatile and
easy to transfer between different driveline concepts as well as handling different requests from the
drivers when it comes to drivability. Additionally, the strategy must ensure that the electric drive
system is durable. The exact goals of the project will be defined when the thesis starts, but a
preliminary list of goals include:
Study the state-of-the-art literature on electrical driveline strategy.
Investigate and conclude possible ways to use more than one electrical axle, specifically how to use each individual axle.
Benchmark different solutions, listing strengths and weaknesses with use of simulation
