Sandvik Tooling is a business area within the Sandvik Group and a global market-leading manufacturer of tools and tooling systems for cutting operations as well as of blanks and components.
Sandvik Tooling's Research and Development department works with the development of hard material for cutting processes and biomaterial. The operations cover a broad area from modeling and material production to evaluation and implementation. The materials laboratory contains both processing equipment for the manufacturing of material for experiments at lab and pilot study levels and advanced testing and analysis equipment. Our strength lies in both our breadth and our cutting edge within our field, and we work with a comprehensive international contact network.
The division for material physics is now looking for a development engineer in advanced crystallography to be based in Stockholm.
Key performance areas
As a development engineer with us, you will be conducting advanced materials research. Your main responsibilities include:
• Conducting materials characterization with the help of X-ray diffraction (XRD)
• Contributing to methods and competencies development in X-ray diffraction
• Participating in, or leading, competence, process and product development projects for Sandvik Tooling
• Participate in competency strengthening and methods development concerning analysis methods relevant to hard metals, and carry out materials experiments using these methods
The work of a development engineer involves frequent contact with a variety of development and production units within Sandvik Tooling and with external companies, research institutes and universities.
Your profile
We are looking for someone with at least a Master's in engineering or comparable degree in chemistry, materials science or physics. Higher degrees, such as a PhD in Technology, are advantageous. Experience in materials characterization with X-ray diffraction is required. Excellent knowledge of the relationship between microstructure and qualities in non-organic material is desirable.
As a person you are outgoing, with a flair for making both internal and external contacts and establishing cooperation with external companies and universities. You are enterprising and energetic, while also being a team player. Additionally, you have a genuine interest in technology, a good analytical ability and a structured work style. You also have good skills in English, Sandvik's corporate language, both verbally and in writing.
