Join our team as Data Engineer, and play a crucial role in building a comprehensive data platform for all our products and services, supporting data driven decisions and accelerating our innovation.
Position Overview
As a Data Engineer, you will be part of our Engineering department, along with other 70+ engineers working within embedded systems, system software as well as windows applications and web services.
Purpose and Expected Result of the Role:
As a Data Engineer, you will be instrumental in enabling Kollmorgen to efficiently leverage AGV system and product usage data. You will collaborate closely with our Senior Data Scientist to shape and execute our data science and AI strategy, and with our System Architects to design a robust data platform. Your hands-on experience and deep expertise in Data Engineering principles will be pivotal in building and scaling our data platform from the ground up, directly influencing our product development and our customer success.
Responsibilities and Essential Tasks:
Design Scalable Architectures: Create flexible and scalable data architectures to handle diverse data sources and evolving business needs.
Develop Robust Pipelines: Build and maintain efficient data pipelines for data acquisition, cleaning, aggregation, storage, and retention.
Lead Data Strategy: Develop and lead strategies for data collection, reliability, efficiency, and quality to support growth.
Mentor Team Members: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior colleagues, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
Effective Communication: Engage with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions aligned with business goals.
Guide Investments: Recommend and guide investments in hardware, software, and infrastructure to support scalability and growth.

To succeed in this position, we believe that you have:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience: Extensive experience (5+ years) in data engineering, with a strong background in building scalable data platforms.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in cloud platforms (Azure preferred)
Excellent python programming skills
Broad experience with modern data engineering and observability tools, including: Relational (SQL) and Non-relational (NoSQL) databases, Cloud storage/processing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Delta Lake), Orchestration and transformation using for example Airflow or dbt, Ingestion and streaming (Kafka, MQTT etc), Observability and monitoring with for example OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, API Development and Data Contracts
Track Record: Proven success in driving data initiatives and creating value from data.
Communication: Excellent communication skills in English.
Leadership: Ability to mentor junior team members and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Interest in Data: Genuine interest in data and its value in analysis and modeling.

We find it beneficial if you have:
Ability to contribute across the Data Science lifecycle, including statistical modeling and data visualization.
Knowledge of data governance, data security and data quality frameworks
Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or similar for deployment and CI/CD pipelines
Experience of containerization with Docker and Kubernetes
Experience of estimating, analyzing and minimizing operational cost for different solutions/services
