Are you looking for a creative role where you will design, conduct, and lead complex investigations? Does problem solving in multiple small-scale projects towards production and products appeal more to you than conventional research? Then a position at the Technology Consulting Department at ABB Corporate Research might be perfect for you. We are looking for a driven colleague to strengthen our team in materials chemistry with high quality investigations and project management, from customer contact to delivery of the final report.
You will be part of ABB Corporate Research in Västerås. We are the largest research center within ABB, with world class expertise and state-of-the-art resources. Our multicultural research center consists of approximately 250 scientists from 45 different countries. Corporate Research offers access to a wide network within ABB and the opportunity to develop your skills in diverse projects and assignments.
Tasks
You will strengthen our team in the field of Materials Chemistry and participate in various projects that differs in scope and length, both through support with specialist competence and as project manager. You will manage several assignments simultaneously and be responsible for the whole project chain - from discussions with customers and planning - to execution. Our customers are often ABB production units in need of hands on support with problem solving. An important part of your role is to understand our customers' needs and challenges, so that you can deliver optimal solutions.
The Technology Consulting Department is a dynamic workplace with an atmosphere characterized by development and learning. Facilities include modern chemistry and materials laboratories and you will be working with colleagues who are experts in their specific fields. Through the range of different projects and customers, there will be great opportunities to build a wide network of technical partners and business units.
Qualifications
You hold a Master of Science degree within Chemistry or Materials Science and have about five years' of related working experience, or you hold a PhD in a relevant field of research. It is important that you have experience from technical problem solving, project management, and investigations. Your core competence lies within chemical analysis, non-organic materials, and/or surface chemistry. Previous experience from consultant roles and process or manufacturing industry is meritorious. You have excellent oral and written communication skills in Swedish and English.
As a person you are curious and have good interpersonal skills. In line with this, you have a talent for networking and customer relations. You are open, flexible, good at keeping deadlines, and a natural team player with great collaborative skills. You have the ability to engage independently in discussions on technical problems. Complex investigations appeal to you more than research and you enjoy experimental work in the lab.
