We are currently looking for a Commercial Finance Manager to Sweden and Norway. Location: Stockholm, Sweden

Purpose:
Commercial Planning drives the marketing planning process and provides proactive commercial insights and transparency for effective decision making and resource allocation. Commercial Planning leads the development of strong commercial awareness within the marketing function and the development of best practice process and tools.

Principal Accountabilities

Key Deliverables:

• Assists in the development of integrated business strategies in respect of marketing investment, and route to market (value chain) from a commercial perspective.
• Contributes to the financial preparation of the relevant strategy and business cycle, providing insights into the efficiency and effectiveness of marketing investments.
• Provide the key financial data (e.g. marketing spend, prices, excise rates, etc) for the area planning.
• Ensures that all activities are executed by marketing in line with area toolkits/ guidelines in the most efficient and effective way
• Ensure transparent and objective financial insights is provided to support commercial decisions and ensure that financial insights are being taken into account in advance of determining the course of action.
• Contributes and provides insights into the effectiveness of utilised marketing spend;
• Provides insights and financial implications on scenarios to the end market cycle planning meeting and business review meeting;
• Provide accurate and timely financial data and the execution of a robust LE process;
• Assist in the preparation of trade business cases, and provide input into brand business cases, for any changes to the cycle plan, in line with delegated authorities
• Prepare and co-ordinate area Pricing and Excise material to aid decision making

Additional Information

Context/ Environment

The role is a bridge between the Finance and Marketing functions. It seeks to instil financial skills and awareness into the Marketing function, making clear the financial implications of decisions in an impartial manner.

The department is responsible, together with marketing, for the profit and loss down to market contribution. As marketing investment is largely discretionary it strives to identify new methods for evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of marketing investment. It proactively seeks out best practice innovations for the business and champions their implementation.

Essential Requirements

The Commercial Finance Manager is a Finance professional (or partly qualified) with a highly commercial approach, who needs to understand marketing. The complexity and subjectivity of marketing and supply chain requires an individual with proven potential in managing multiple tasks, with strong communication and interpersonal skills. The following attributes and behaviors are required:

• Effective leader / driver of new initiatives; a motivator of change;
• Proactive, persuasive, creative and prepared to challenge existing ideas;
• Provider of financial insights regarding the impact of marketing strategies;
• Project management skills; the ability to define clear priorities in multi-project environments;
• Coaching and leadership skills;
• Understanding of most functions within a FMCG company;
• Finance professional with significant / proven experience of at least 3 years within BAT or an FMCG organization
• Knowledge and understanding of marketing principles and strategy in the areas of:
• Consumer and general Marketing concepts;
• Portfolio Strategy;
• Pricing and Excise;
• Marketing Finance Analyses in terms of Brand / Channel and Account profitability;
• Planning and resource allocation principles;

Key Success Factors

• Proven use of financial information to support business diagnosis, strategy and decisions
• Integrated portfolio, pricing, excise, and secondary supply chain strategies with the financial goals of BAT and it's delivery
• Effective working relationships
