GTP Emerging Technologies Purchasing being the Strategic Line for Purchasing in transformational scopes such as Active Safety, Automation, Electromobility and Fuel Cells. We organize a strong collaboration within teams with global spread. Still we operate close to the center of development in these domains, which is in Gothenburg.
The Automation Purchasing Team, with the responsibility in Active Safety & Automation, is responsible to drive end-to-end Purchasing activities whilst securing Quality, Delivery, Cost, Feature, Technology, Sustainability and Risk Management targets for Volvo Truck Brands, Volvo Bus and Volvo Autonomous Solutions.

Volvo Autonomous Solutions is a brand-new Business Area within the Volvo Group with the mission to offer transport solutions never seen before. Volvo Autonomous Solutions (VAS) accelerates the development, commercialization and sales of autonomous transport solutions as a complement to Volvo Group's today's products and services. This will enable the Volvo Group to meet a growing demand and to offer the best possible solutions to customers. Mission
As Buyer Active Safety & Automation SW & HW, you are in the forefront of this journey aiming at bringing the Volvo Group a competitive advantage in these domains. The Safety & Automation arena is a mix of well-known and new technologies driven by the emergence of self-driving customer requirements in our industry. This creates an extremely dynamic environment with new players and new technologies arising every day. Our Purchasing function needs to be on top of this game by scouting and selecting new partners worldwide, capturing innovation that will bring value to our customers and driving performance on a daily basis - which will be your main mission.
Main Responsibilities
Be a member in Automation Purchasing team and contribute to the development of the group in an active way
Ensure that the "Scope" solutions, products and projects area are managed and delivered in an optimal way in relation to supplier and partner perspective
Advisory in HW&SW purchasing decisions across organization
Drive business segment towards the wanted position, in cooperation with Segment colleagues
Manage the partner & supplier relationships for optimal deliveries
Deploy and drive competence development individually and collectively
Participate in relevant product concept selection process
Manage purchasing QDCF- TSR deliverables
Work in accordance with the Volvo processes, the Code of Conduct and the Volvo Values
Competence & Experience
In addition to a formal degree in electronics, engineering or software this role calls for a combination of commercial and technical skills. You are likely to have a background in either purchasing, development, technical sales or software project management. If you have knowledge and experience of from the industry including a track record of performance in a customer focused role within an OEM, Automotive Tier1 or solution provider, you will be a strong asset and have the right background for the role.
University degree in Engineering/Computer Science and/or Business Administration
Experience with Intellectual Property Rights, licensing models and license agreements
Ability to comprehend, evaluate, and compare SW/HW architecture, development efforts and development tools
Experience in agile way-of-working and non-conventional business models
Experience from automotive industry and preferably also safety/automation/telematics/connected vehicles in order to understand the market
Business acumen to provide the best return on investment
Proven interest in future business trends and technology
Fluent skills in English - both written and spoken
In general, you need to have an ability to work from a holistic view, focus into details and back up towards the holistic view again - as we are touching new ground. In addition, you should have the understanding for the need of pace to drive result within the cross-functional environment. We require you to face issues and act quickly and directly, plus provide direct and actionable feedback to interest parties.
