THE ROLE INVOLVES
• Ensuring the school is a calm and safe learning environment of high academic standards Continuing to develop the school's positive culture and reputation
• Coordinating the work of the school's student care team, including contact with external authorities
• Ensuring student motivation, security, satisfaction and learning
• Lead and coordinating the teaching team of years 7-9 - for example by leading weekly meetings, organizing training sessions, visiting lessons, giving clear and meaningful feedback, conducting constructive and focused development and salary talks
• Help drive the school's systematic quality work forwards
• Developing and improving school routines and policies
• Help recruit, develop and retain quality staff
• Continuing to develop the school's positive culture and reputation

Language: the school is bilingual and candidates need to be able to work in both languages on a daily basis. The school's official working language is English but most the contact with parents, social authorities and the student care team is done in Swedish.
Experience: experience of leadership is a clear merit although character and motivation play an equally important role. You will receive training and mentorship to help support and develop your leadership and professional skills.
Qualifications: candidates do not need to be qualified teachers but experience of working in schools is a clear merit. A good knowledge of Swedish school law is a merit but training can be provided otherwise. Good IT and organization skills are very useful.
Character: there is no one perfect model Assistant Principal but candidates need to have good communication skills, self-knowledge and the ability to lead and motivate others. Candidates need to be good at both long term planning and being able to react and make good decisions in difficult situations. Flexibility and a positive, professional attitude is a must.
Jönköping's 1-9 school has 850 students making it the largest compulsory school in Jönköping. Understandably, we have divided it into three smaller school-units to keep the important family feeling. They are called Primary (1-3), Junior (4-6) and Senior (7-9). Each school unit works with the overall school vision and policies but has its own staff, schedules and facilities.
