The Department of Information Technology has more than 25 employees, three Bachelor's programmes, and one Master's programme in informatics. The department has a successful research environment in information technology with several significant externally funded projects, for example in data-driven innovation and service development, intelligent data analysis, and IT service management. The department also has strong collaborations with the business community in both research and education, including through the newly launched Techarena Borås.
Job description
The position of Associate Senior Lecturer is a fixed-term career-development position. This position intends to provide a teacher with the opportunity to develop their independence as a researcher and to gain both scientific and pedagogical qualifications in order to meet the requirements for a position as Senior Lecturer. The main tasks consist of teaching and research, which are distributed according to the candidate's professional development needs.
The teaching is carried out together with colleagues within the department's educational programmes in Informatics and includes courses at both Bachelor's and Master's levels. Teaching at Bachelor's level is mainly carried out in the Bachelor's programme Computer and Systems Science, specialisation in Software Development, while teaching and course development at the Master's level will primarily be carried out in the Master Programme (One Year) in Informatics - Data-driven IT Management. Examples of course content include object-oriented programming in C#, machine learning, software development projects, and web and mobile software development.
The department's policy is to work to ensure that employees have the opportunity to participate in research projects related to the department's two research groups. One research group, InnovationLab, specifically studies the design of digital artefacts while the other research group, ComputerScienceLab, focuses on intelligent data analysis of large data sets. The research is often externally funded and is carried out in project form and in collaboration with business and industry.
Another important part of the position is to further develop the research environment, primarily through one's own research, but also through the supervision of doctoral students and the development of applications for external research funding. Developing collaborations with national and international networks is a natural part of the work.
Teaching at the Bachelor's is in Swedish and English, while teaching at the Master's level is mainly in English.
Qualifications
The position requires proven teaching skills and a doctoral degree or equivalent scholarly competence in computer science or in another subject relevant to the focus of the position (e.g. computer science). Applicants should have knowledge in most of the areas listed in the job description above. Furthermore, knowledge of C# including frameworks such as .Net and good and documented knowledge of English, both spoken and written, is required.
Merits for employment are documented experience of:
• relevant teaching in software development
• knowledge of Python
• experience of responsibility for development work in Bachelor's level education
• international collaboration
• professional experience from business and industry
• collaboration with business and industry and/or public administration
• research in the subject area through e.g. scientific publication, conference participation, participation in research collaborations.
Significant emphasis will be placed on personal suitability and the ability to collaborate within a teaching team.
For a permanent position at the university, you must have completed a course of pedagogical training relevant to university instruction university education equivalent to 10 weeks full-time studies or equivalent knowledge. Type of employment: Fixed-term employment for four years, with the possibility to be promoted to a permanent position as Senior Lecturer if the eligibility requirements are met.
