hela Sverige The Machine Directorate at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for an Accelerator Engineer within normal conducting front-end.
Description of directorate/division
The Accelerator Division is responsible for the design, construction, commissioning and operation of the ESS accelerator. The pulsed superconducting linac, to be built in Lund, will produce a 5MW average power proton beam, driving the world's most powerful neutron source. The Linac Group is responsible for the linac with its accelerating structures and other components together with the in-kind partners and for integration of the linac and associated systems in the tunnel and the klystron gallery.
Description of main responsibilities
The ESS linac will have a normal conducting front-end consisting of ion source, LEBT, RFQ, MEBT and DTL. All these components will be in-kind contributions from partners in several European countries. ESS is here searching for an accelerator engineer who can take part in the construction, integration, installation and commissioning of - depending on his/her experience - RFQ and/or MEBT and/or DTL as system responsible. This includes technical oversight during the construction, resolution of technical issues during construction, installation and commissioning and assuring that the work is performed within the cost and schedule of the project plan.
Qualifications
• PhD or equivalent background in physics or a related subject
• Minimum three years of experience after the PhD of normal-conducting accelerator components with all their subsystems
• Experience of working in an international environment is essential
• Experience in commissioning or operation of particle accelerators is desirable
• Excellent oral and written English skills are a prerequisite

Duration & Location
The position is permanent with six months initial probationary period. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden. The position is to be filled as soon as possible.
