Starting as a part of our well-established team working on an unannounced SteamWorld project, we would love to see that you enjoy making levels in 2D with a focus on gameplay mechanics. You are interested in strategy games, and you enjoy working with custom tools and engines. The content you create will have to adapt to fit well with the game's vision and you will work closely with gameplay designers, narrative designers, and artists to implement the best solutions possible. If you love working in smaller teams (around 25 people) and being an active participant in shaping both the levels themselves as well as the process of making them, Thunderful just might be the place for you.
Responsibilities Include:
• Creating levels from an initial idea to the final in-game result
• Working both independently and together with other level designers
• Iterate on levels based on internal & external testing feedback
Requirements:
• Professional experience as a level designer
• Scripting skills
• Self-drive and ability to work on your own initiative
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills (English)
Bonus points:
• Living in or around Gothenburg, or willing to relocate
• Experience working on strategy games
• Leadership experience
• Lua scripting skills

About Thunderful:
Thunderful is a relatively new company but with old roots. Thunderful was formed by several small indie companies coming together to make something more significant than they could have done independently. Over the last few years, Thunderful has grown into four different offices, with roughly 140 people making games in team sizes between 15-35 people. The teams within have developed the award-winning SteamWorld series, known for its frequent genre-hopping and inclusive design, and more recent AA games like The Gunk, Lost in Random, and other un-announced but equally charming titles.

Our majestic Thunderful Games HQ in Gothenburg towers over all surrounding buildings except its slightly taller neighbors (we'll get there someday). Please don't mistake it for a typical office! Inside you'll find a custom-built game dev powerhouse with some of the industry's very best. The Gothenburg teams have been at it for over two decades and worked their way to the top with the SteamWorld series and EA Originals like Fe and Lost in Random.
From our rooftop terrace, we overlook the bustling city center with its canal, delightful eateries, a rich cultural life, and a fascinating past - all within walking distance!
